The MLB trade deadline is creeping up and there are tons of exciting players thought to be on the move. There are some stars, role players, and bench bats that can help contending teams perform during the second half.

The deadline is set for July 30, so teams do not have much time left to get deals done. With time starting to run out, expect a flurry of moves to be made over the next few weeks.

With all the attention on the upcoming deadline, here's a closer look at five pitchers who could be changing jerseys very soon.

MLB Trade Deadline: 5 pitchers that could be moved to contenders

#5. Kyle Finnegan

Kyle Finnegan is coming off a late addition to the 2024 All-Star Game. He has pitched well in the bullpen for the Washington Nationals, posting a 2.45 ERA before the break.

Finnegan has one more year of being arbitration-eligible before becoming a free agent. He could be a guy that turns around a team's bullpen and will likely have several teams looking at him.

#4. Tanner Scott

Miami Marlins pitcher Tanner Scott is one of the many players expected to move on from Miami ahead of the trade deadline. The lefty currently has a 1.34 ERA out of the bullpen and would be a big help for a team looking to add a bullpen piece.

#3. Carlos Esteves

Carlos Esteves is another relief pitcher expected to be dealt. He is working on a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Angels, making him a perfect trade candidate. He could be the best relief pitcher on the market with the way he has pitched lately, holding a 2.61 ERA so far this season.

#2. Erick Fedde

Erick Fedde has been a surprise player this year. The Chicago White Sox ace has reemerged as a great MLB starting pitcher after spending a season in the KBO with the NC Dinos in 2023.

Fedde will be a cheap and consistent option for teams searching for a dependable arm. He could seriously help strengthen a playoff-caliber rotation.

#1. Jack Flaherty

Jack Flaherty is likely headed to his second deadline deal after being traded from the St. Lous Cardinals last year. While he has struggled the last few years, he has turned it around this year.

Working on a one-year deal with the Detroit Tigers, he has posted a 3.13 ERA through 16 starts. He could bring Detroit a solid return ahead of the trade deadline.
