MLB Trade Deadline roundup for Tuesday, July 30
Alex Cobb brings his talent to Cleveland
The Cleveland Guardians have continued their trade deadline season by bringing in veteran pitcher Alex Cobb. The Guardians sent pitcher Jacob Bresnahan and a player to be named later to the San Francisco Giants for the 36-year-old Cobb. Caleb Ferguson heads to Houston
According to Jack Curry of the YES Network, the New York Yankees have sent veteran southpaw reliever Caleb Ferguson to the Houston Astros. In return, the Bronx Bombers received international signing bonus space, as well as a prospect. Although a seemingly minor deal, it could be a sign of another move to come for the Yankees before the trade deadline passes.
Lucas Erceg joins the Royals
The first of two trades made by the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday saw the club bring in veteran reliever Lucas Erceg from the Oakland Athletics. Although it is still unclear who the A's are receiving in return for Erceg, his acquisition is a solid one for the Royals who have been looking to bolster their bullpen for some time.
Andrew Chafin to the Rangers
The reigning World Series champion Texas Rangers have bolstered their bullpen by bringing in Andrew Chafin from the Detroit Tigers. Chafin should be another solid veteran option for the Rangers ahead of closer Kirby Yates. The new Rangers pitcher has been mentioned in trade rumors all season and will now bring his talent to Texas.
