Even after signing Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Miami Marlins, the New York Yankees have a few more gaps to fill. With the pitching staff still looking very thin, reports suggest that Aaron Boone's side is still looking for a boost on the mound. There is also the possibility of adding another potential at-bat that can add depth to the offence. Here's a look at possible players the Yanks are scouting.
#1 Tanner Scott
The Yankees are still on the look out to add star closer Tanner Scott. The Marlins bullpen arm is having a fantastic season with a 6-5 record with a 1.18 ERA over 45.2 frames. New York's closer, Clay Holmes, has been inconsistent this season. Even though he got the All-Star nod, Holmes has surrendered seven saves this season from a possible 28 and has a 4.70 ERA in the last 30 days. Scott would fit right as a short-term solution as he heads into free agency this winter.
#2 Jameson Taillon
Not just the bullpen, even the starting rotation has been suffering for the Yankees. None of the primary starters have been able to regain the peak form they had at the start of the season. In the month of July, Yankees starters have been hit for a 4.92 ERA. This has prompted them to look for other options.
The Chicago Cubs' Jameson Taillon has been scouted by the team over the last few weeks. The 32-year-old is 7-5 over 100.1 innings with a 2.96 ERA and will be under club control till the end of 2026, which makes him a good fit in the Bronx.
#3 Issac Paredes
Another player that the Yankees have been after all month long has been the Tampa Bay Rays' Isaac Paredes. The Rays signaled their plans for a fire sale after trading away Randy Arozarena and Zach Eflin. With the Yankees needing a power, Paredes has been solid hitting 16 home runs over .793 OPS this season. Defensively, he brings his versatility to the diamond and is a possible long-term solution at third base if Gleyber Torres signs elsewhere when his free agency starts at the end of the season.
