Detroit Tigers pitcher Jack Flaherty has been a name that has increasingly come up with the MLB Trade Deadline quickly approaching. He has pitched well for a team that still has some work to do before becoming a contender.
Flaherty has started 18 games this season, compiling a 7-5 record with a 2.95 ERA over 106.2 innings of work. He has rebounded after a few disappointing seasons.
Multiple teams are looking for another starting pitcher before the deadline closes. Today, we look at three potential landing spots for the former 2014 first-round draft pick.
3 potential landing spots for Jack Flaherty
#3 - Minnesota Twins
The Twins could use another starting pitcher during the second half. Their rotation has struggled while the team is currently in the thick of things in the American League Central.
The Athletic's Dan Hayes suggests they would be open to adding a rental, and Flaherty would be just that. He is currently working on a one-year deal in Detroit and will be a free agent next season.
#2 - Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles are looking to add another starting pitcher to their rotation ahead of the deadline. Per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Katie Woo, the club has not ruled out a reunion with Jack Flaherty.
He was with Baltimore for part of the season last year, but it did not go too well. However, he looks like a much different pitcher this season.
#1 - Cleveland Guardians
The Guardians are one of the strongest teams despite not having the strongest rotation. Things got much more serious after Tanner Bibee left his Wednesday start early.
If Cleveland wants to maintain its lead in the aL Central, it will need another arm. Flaherty comes at a fraction of what the other top arms will cost. But, will Detroit help somebody in its division?
