The World Series is the last stage or the final game in Major League Baseball (MLB). Every season, all 30 teams across the National League (NL) and the American League (AL), and their different divisions compete with one another through regular season and postseason to ultimately reach the World Series. Only two teams reach the World Series, with one becoming the MLB Champion for the season.
The Willie Mays World Series Most Valuable Player Award is one of the most prestigious awards in the league. It is generally presented to the player with the biggest contribution in helping his team become the MLB Champions. The award was first presented in 1955 and has since been awarded every season. Notably, the New York Yankees are leading in this position, having acquired twelve MLB World Series MVP awards in their career. The 2024 MLB World Series will result in a new MVP joining the list of those who came before him.
