Pitcher Jack Flaherty was just weeks old when he was adopted by Eileen, a single mother. As someone who stood by her son during moments of doubt in his early career, the Dodgers World Series win in October was extra special for Eileen.

On November 1, the Dodgers were back in LA to celebrate in front of 1 million people. Complete with a parade and a ceremony at Dodger Stadium, Flaherty recently revealed his mother's approach to having a good time.

On a recent appearance on the "Check Ball Show", Jack Flaherty was asked about the experience of winning the World Series. Speaking about those first moments of victory, Flaherty described his mom's actions:

"I got family, I got my mom, my brother, seeing how happy they are, my two closest friends. And it was just like, it was so surreal. And then yeah, mymom starts drinking a little bit tequila and I got a little fired up and was like, everybody needs to follow what she just did"

Such were the scenes when the Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in the Bronx to win the 2024 World Series. According to Flaherty, Eileen and his younger brother were among the first to get the party going.

Jack Flaherty, who grew up in the LA suburb of Burbank, also discussed how special it was to win the World Series with his hometown Los Angeles Dodgers. Long before Flaherty would take the bump in the World Series, he and his mother would visit Dodger Stadium to take in games together.

A former Cy Young contender during his days with the St. Louis Cardinals, Flaherty's enthusiasm for baseball was not always as full as it is today. In his freshman year, it was Eileen who encouraged Flaherty to remain in baseball despite his desire to quit.

Jack Flaherty is happy to play in front of home town crowd

For years, Flaherty would be at odds with friends and family when competing against the Dodgers, saying in the same interview:

"I came here to play against them, they'd have to root for me, which was a lot of fun, was forcing them to root for me against the Dodgers, but then being traded over and giving them a chance to root for the same team, especially for my brother. That was probably talking to him and him being like his text to me, being like, I'm really happy that I can root for the Dodgers"

Now a hometown boy, Flaherty earned the special task of delivering a championship for a team he has cheered for his entire life.
