Adolis Garcia got a bit of baseball revenge in Game 6. After his HBP and ejection seemed to spark the Houston Astros to a key come-from-behind win to grab the series lead, Garcia replied. It took him a little while, because he entered the ninth inning 0-4 with four strikeouts.
One swing undid all of that and put the game away, as Garcia's grand slam made it 9-2 and effectively forced Game 7. He did this while he received boos from the Astros crowd that was unhappy with his role and perceived lack of punishment for the Game 6 incident.
First baseman Nathaniel Lowe credited Garcia via The Athletic:
“They don’t boo nobodies, I think is the saying. For him to show up here and get this kind of adversity from this fan base, it’s fitting. But good players respond, and he responded.”
Garcia has become a villain to the Astros, much like Game 6 hero Jose Altuve is a villain to most of the baseball world. He responded by exacting some revenge and helping force a Game 7 where he will try and get his team to the World Series.
Catcher Jonah Heim also said:
“They’re booing him all game, and he kind of puts the game on ice. I don’t know how you can boo somebody for getting hit, but it is what it is. He kind of quieted them pretty quick there.”
The Texas Rangers have never won a World Series, and they could be on the cusp of that if they can win tonight. Garcia, Lowe, and others will try and help them get there.
Adolis Garcia trying to get Rangers to World Series
Adolis Garcia has been one of the hottest Texas Rangers players this series, and he's a big reason why they're in this Game 7 in the first place.
It's impossible to predict and it's a fallacy to assume the Rangers would've won Game 6 anyway, but it's hard not to think what might've happened if he hadn't inadvertently ignited the Astros in Game 5.
Nevertheless, he got a little bit of revenge in Game 6 and will look to put the nail in the coffin of the Astros' repeat chances one final time in Game 7.
