The New York Mets are one of the teams that represent the city of New York Major League Baseball (MLB). Looking back in time, the team was formed as an expansion of the National League (NL) in 1962 in response to the departures of the already existing NL members, the Brooklyn Dodgers to Los Angeles and New York Giants to San Francisco after the 1957 season. Over the years, the Mets have had their own shares of titles in the league. They have won the World Series titles twice, the National League (NL) titles five times and the NL East Division titles four times. They are also notable for being the co-host of the Subway Series along with their rivals the New York Yankees and are currently ranked as the sixth valuable franchise in the league.

Hailing from Barquisimeto, Venezuela, Carlos Enqrique Mendoza was appointed as the new manager of the New York Mets prior to the ongoing 2024 MLB season. Nonetheless, he has a background as a baseball player.

Mendoza played baseball in the minor leagues for twelve seasons and post his playing career, Mendoza switched his direction to coaching with various minor league teams before becoming a roving instructor for the New York Yankees in 2012.
