CBS radio-owned WFAN have agreed a deal with the Major League Baseball side New York Yankees to be the side’s official radio partner.
WFAN, who previously had a deal with New York Mets replaces former radio partners WCBS-AM and will have a coverage across 66AM and 101.9 FM stations. The deal is believed to be worth around US$20 million annually and will run over a period of ten years.
“We are extremely excited to have reached an agreement with CBS Radio. The paramount consideration was how our fans would best be able to hear our games. Having the Yankees on WFAN-AM/FM provides listeners in the New York metropolitan area and beyond with superior broadcast quality and vast territorial signal strength,” said Hal Steinbrenner, Yankees’ managing general partner.
The deal is also believed to include the broadcasting rights of Yankee’s new MLS franchise, New York City FC.
