The Pohlad family, which has owned the Minnesota Twins for the last 40 years, has decided to explore selling the franchise. The team is worth $1.5 billion, as per Forbes, and there could be a new owner by the beginning of the 2025 season. The Twins missed the playoffs, so their sole focus can be on this transition.
The Twins won the World Series in 1987 and 1991 and made the playoffs 10 times after that, including in 2023, under the Pohlad family leadership. However, after a disappointing collapse in 2024, the team has already moved on from its general manager and will now be looking at new ownership moving forward should a sale come about.

The Twins were one of the two AL Central teams to miss the playoffs, as the Cleveland Guardians won the division and the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers made it as wild cards.

Via CBS Sports, they said that "after months of thoughtful consideration," they decided to pursue alternative options for the ownership of the Twins. This was a decision they reportedly made in the summer.
They continued:
"We truly respect and cherish what the Twins mean to Minneapolis, St. Paul, the great state of Minnesota, and this entire region. Our goal is to be as informative as possible with the team, staff, and you, the fans.
"You deserve that, because in so many ways, this team doesn't belong to any one family – it belongs to all of you. It's our objective to find an ownership group who all of us can be proud of and who will take care of the Minnesota Twins."
There is no indication on who the next owners will be, but the Pohlad family is looking toward the future for themselves and the team. It's their opinion that this move has "care and intention" for the Twins.
