San Francisco Giants Blake Snell etched his name into the history book on Friday. The reigning NL Cy Young winner shut out the Cincinnati Reds to register his first career no-hitter.

Snell, who was subject to trade rumors ahead of the trade deadline last month, registered a complete game, going past the eighth inning for the first time in his career in his record-setting performance.

The veteran pitcher went nine innings long, throwing 114 pitches with 11 strikeouts to claim the win for the Giants in a 3-0 triumph over the Reds at the Great American Ball Park.

MLB fans were in awe of the two-time Cy Young winner's latest milestone.

"11 Ks then a no-hitter is actually insane."
"Snellzilla IS SOOOO BACK," wrote another fan.
"WOW BLAKE SNELL IS A DAWG," exclaimed a fan.

Several fans also pointed out the fact that Blake Snell is heating up in the second half of the season, just like he did in his Cy Young-winning campaign last year.

"How does blake snell always turn up in the 2nd half after playing atrocious in the first few months," wrote a perplexed fan.
"Farhan, Giants ownership, whoever needs to hear this. Pay Blake Snell and keep him here," urged a Giants fan.

Blake Snell grew confident of throwing a no-hitter later in the game

Blake Snell's no-hitter was the 18th in the Giants' history and the first since 2015, when rookie Chris Heston shut out the New York Mets. Despite never pitching past the eighth inning, Snell was confident about pulling off the feat during his outing.

"In the eighth and ninth, I was pretty confident," Snell said on NBC Sports Bay Area. "I was like, 'Let's go get it, we're not just going to waste our time here."'

Snell signed for the Giants on a two-year, $62 million deal in the offseason but his San Francisco tenure was off to a rocky start after reoccurring groin issues. However, Snell has been on a tear since July and is peaking at just the right time for the Giants.

"The way I've been feeling the last four starts, I knew I was getting somewhere. I knew I was getting better," Snell said. "I didn't know that was going to happen. First time going nine innings, what a way to do it."

Snell's no-hitter was the third of the year, following Astros' Ronel Blanco earlier in the season and Padres' Dylan Cease last month.
