New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole's wife, Amy Cole, got nostalgic while reminiscing and sharing Cole's MLB debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2013. Pittsburgh won that contest against the San Francisco Giants, and Cole finished with an impressive 6.1 innings pitched and two earned runs on his big league debut.
The special part about Gerrit Cole's debut was that he not only showcased class from the mound but also recorded his first career base hit, which was a two-run single as the Pirates downed the Giants 8-2 at PNC Park on June 11, 2013. Amy Cole took to her Instagram story to share the same while feeling nostalgic, as the caption read:
"11 years have flown by!!"

Amy and Gerrit are college sweethearts, and they met on the grounds of UCLA when Cole was playing with the Bruins baseball team and Amy was playing with the Bruins women's softball team.
The couple dated for several years before getting engaged in 2015. Shortly after, the duo exchanged vows at a beautiful ceremony at the Ritz Carlton Santa Barbara, California.
Gerrit and Amy Cole have two kids together. Their first son, Caden Gerrit Cole, was born in June 2020, while their second child, Everett Cole, was born in January 2023.
The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Gerrit Cole as a first-round pick in the 2011 MLB draft. Cole was teammates with Trevor Bauer at the UCLA Bruins, as two of the best RHP talents in collegiate baseball helped the Bruins reach the College World Series in 2010, which they unfortunately lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Cole spent five seasons in Pittsburgh before moving to Houston and playing a couple of seasons with the Astros.
He made his big-money move to the NY Yankees on December 18, 2019, after signing the then-biggest contract for a pitcher, which stood at a whopping $324 million.
Cole sustained a nerve inflammation during spring training with the Yankees, which has sidelined him from first-team action since the opening day of the 2024 season. He is now making strides to complete his rehabilitation program to pitch for the Yankees this season.
