Kike Hernandez may not be a household name, however, if you were to ask any Los Angeles Dodgers fan, they would explain how important he was during the team's World Series run. The veteran utilityman played a key role for the Dodgers near the bottom of the order, racking up hits and runs for the club in the postseason.
While he was not exactly a superstar during the regular season, Kike Hernandez stepped up for the Dodgers in the playoffs. The veteran posted a .229 batting average during the season, however, under the pressure of the playoff baseball, Hernandez bumped that number up to an impressive .294 en route to his second World Series ring.
Some players might be satisfied with the two rings, however during the team's World Series celebrations on Friday, Hernandez shared his thoughts on a potential dynasty in the making for the Dodgers.
"We got asked some really tough questions and guess what, I said the 2020 decade is gonna be the LA Dodgers decade. Who has more championships than us in the 2020s? Absolutely nobody!” - Hernandez said to a packed Dodger Stadium crowd.
It was a special moment for Hernandez and the rest of the Los Angeles Dodgers, particularly those who were a member of the 2020 World Series championship team. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team was unable to fully enjoy the atmosphere of celebrating their World Series victory.
But now, with thousands of fans in attendance, Hernandez and the rest of the squad soaked it all up.
An unrestricted free agent, it remains to be seen where Hernandez's future will lie, however, given his success with Los Angeles, as well as his standing with the fans, it would be unsurprising to see him back in the Dodger Blue next season.
Kike Hernandez will be pulling a shift at Raising Cane's following the World Series celebration
If anyone doubted that Hernandez was a man of the people, his upcoming event will prove them wrong. After adding another World Series ring to his impressive resume, Hernandez will soon be able to add Raising Cane's employee to his list of job experience.
The veteran utilityman will reportedly work as a cashier and fry cook at a Raising Cane's location in Alhambra, California at 1300 E Valley Blvd on Monday, November 4th. From 10-11 a.m, the two-time champion will be serving fans who supported him and the Dodgers throughout the postseason. Mookie Betts did the same earlier this year.
