On Saturday night, Juan Soto booked his place in Yankees history. With two outs in the bottom of the eighth and after a seven-pitch at-bat, Soto hammered a Hunter Gaddis pitch deep to center field, putting his team up 5-2 and all but booking their ticket to the World Series.

As Soto watched the ball sail into the stands, he turned to the Yankees dugout, where a legion of admiring teammates were not even trying to hide their mirth. Now, a pair of those teammates have weighed in on Juan Soto's contract discussion.

Then Yankees went on to win 5-2, eliminating the Cleveland Guardians from the MLB playoffs. After the game, Jazz Chisholm was among the first to opine that Soto needs to re-seign with the team, telling Meredith Marakovitz of YES Network "I think we should re-sign Soto. $700 million. Final offer.”

Chisholm Jr. came to the Yankees as a result of a trade deadline deal with the Miami Marlins. Himself under a one-year, $2.63 million deal, he will become eligible for arbitration this offseason before becoming a free agent in 2027.

Another member of the New York Yankees to praise Soto and call for an extension was Giancarlo Stanton. The purveyor of a two-run shot in Game 5, Stanton told Bryan Hoch "He's going to stay, we need him to stay.

"Giancarlo Stanton, on Juan Soto: “We need him to stay. He’s going to stay. We need to bring it home, and then we’ll bring him home also.” - Bryan Hoch

Juan Soto was born to play in the Bronx

Ever since he first stepped onto the field at Yankee Stadium more than six months ago, fans have been in love with Soto. After his mammoth home run in Game 5, Soto reminded fans that he lives for high stakes situations:

“Since Day 1 of spring training I have been saying, ‘Give me every hard moment, every tough time, I’m going to step up and try to do my best.”

Although nobody knows how long Soto will remain a Yankee, there is still plenty of work to be done before the real discussions can even begin.
