The New York Yankees have pushed back against Bob Laterza, coach of the Staten Island Little League World Series team, for his criticism of their captain Aaron Judge. The team backed their superstar, saying that he is a role model for young baseball players.
Laterza had alleged that the AL MVP Award frontrunner was not interacting with the young players who look up to him.
"Reaching out to us would have been the prudent way to act and would have set a fine example for his young players. Aaron Judge always acts with kindness and respect," the Yankees said in response to the public criticism.
Judge has become, literally and metaphorically, a larger-than-life figure in the MLB. The Yankees captain has quickly gained recognition as one of the most popular players in the league, thanks to his presence at the plate and moon-scraping home runs.
After witnessing a 400-foot home run from the Yankees captain, it's easy to see why he is among the most popular players in the MLB.
New York is a notoriously tough city, and the Yankees embodied that sentiment by clapping back at Laterza. As part of the team defending Judge, they also mentioned that the Staten Island coach could learn something from the All-Star slugger when it comes to respect.
Aaron Judge won the 2023 Roberto Clemente Award for his philanthropic work in the community
While words can only get you so far, Aaron Judge has used his platform and ability to help as many young children as he can.
The New York Yankees captain founded the ALL RISE Foundation back in 2018 with the intention of helping the youth learn and develop into responsible members of society.
His philanthropic work has helped youngsters in the Bronx, as well as multiple communities in his native state of California. While winning MVP Awards and All-Star selections are important, winning the Roberto Clemente Award was something extra special.
