New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge had a stellar 2024 season, winning several awards that added to his already remarkable career. Judge also secured the American League Most Valuable Player (AL MVP) award, marking his second career win.
On Saturday, Aaron Judge officially accepted the award and gave a speech thanking everyone who supported him. He also explained why he couldn’t attend the award dinner hosted by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
“I’m truly humbled to be accepting the 2024 AL MVP award," he saoid. "I want to start by apologizing for missing the award dinner this evening. However, my wife Samantha and I are expecting our first child any day and unfortunately could not make it.”
According to Page Six, Judge and his wife, Samantha, are about to welcome a baby girl. It will be the longtime couple’s first child since they tied the knot in 2021.

After announcing the reason for not attending the dinner, Aaron Judge took a moment to share his heartfelt thoughts on winning the AL MVP award. He expressed his gratitude towards those who had supported him throughout his journey.
“I want to thank God for surrounding me with amazing people who supported me every step of the way," he said. "To my coaches, teammates trainers and the entire Yankees organization, I’m honored to share this award with each and every one of you. Your support, encouragement and hard work have meant the world to me."
He went on to reflect on the honor of representing New York and congratulated his fellow award recipients.
“It’s a privilege to be representing the greatest city in the world. I’d also like to congratulate all the other incredible individuals being recognized tonight," he said.
"You guys make this game look too easy. Thank you again to the Baseball Writers Association for this incredible honor. I’m truly grateful and will cherish this moment forever. ”
In the 2024 season, Judge played 158 games, hitting an impressive 58 homers and a career-high 144 RBIs while recording a .322 batting average.
