Former MLB star Matt Holliday and wife Leslee are parents to four kids, including the Baltimore Orioles' Jackson Holliday and his brother Ethan, the predicted No. 1 pick in the 2025 class. Their other two kids are named Gracyn and Reed. So, it is fair to say that Matt and Leslee have some experience when it comes to parenting.
The pair made an appearance on the Pure Athlete podcast two weeks ago and answered a number of questions about parenting. While speaking about the importance of giving their children the ability to choose for themselves, Matt noted that his wife indirectly drew her answers from the Bible.
"We're basically the gospel of like how God loves us unconditionally and out of that there is freedom to pursue your passions in a way that honours him... I am listening to Leslee and I am like, 'Well she's quoting the Bible', which is a great place to start when it comes to pretty much anything," Matt Holliday said.
Leslee added to that point by substantiating her belief and explaining how reading the Holy Writ changed her outlook on how to be a good parent.
"My parenting changed y'all when I was reading the Genesis. I know that sounds really weird but I was reading, after the fall, Adam and Eve and they're like God's kids and they go and they hide because they are ashamed and all the things that they did... I can just kind of see him like sitting with them and discussing," Leslee said.
Jackson Holliday going through week-long slump
Heading into the Orioles' Saturday game against the Tigers, Jackson Holliday has hit 1-for-15 since last Tuesday. He started the last three games at second base, not his primary shortstop position.
However, due to struggles at the plate, which mirror his early season's disastrous form, the Orioles management decided to rest him for Saturday's clash.
Unfortunately for Holliday and the Os, others in the lineup are also struggling with the bat in hand. They are 4-6 in their last 10 games and 2.5 games behind the Yankees in the AL East standings.
