LA Dodgers infielder Kike Hernandez took a sharp jab at rapper Fat Joe during the team's World Series victory celebration in front of their fans. Hernandez jokingly said the Bronx-born musician was responsible for the New York Yankees losing the Fall Classic following his performance in Game 3.

Before Game 2, the Dodgers had Los Angeles native Ice Cube perform on the field, delivering an electrifying show that set the stage for another home victory.. In response to this, the Yankees brought in Fat Joe to perform ahead of the first pitch in Game 3 days later, but his act fell flat and received flak from fans on social media.

On Friday, Kike Hernandez roasted the New York-based rapper during his speech at the World Series victory celebration inside a packed Dodgers Stadium.

“Ice Cube came out in Game 2, and with his performance, we didn’t need to play the game, we had already won it,” Hernandez said.
“Then we go to New York, and this guy, he used to be fat and he isn’t fat anymore," he continued. "His name is Joe. He came out and sang, and we didn’t need to play anymore because after that performance, we had already won.”

This is the second World Series triumph of his career for Kike Hernandez, having been part of the Dodgers team that won the championship at the end of the Covid-shortened 2020 season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a star-studded lineup with three of the best hitters in Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman. However, each of these superstars encountered challenges at the plate at some point in this postseason. As a result, the consistent offensive production from Kike Hernandez proved vital, along with his reliable defense across the diamond.

Hernandez batted .294/.357/.451 during the 2024 playoffs with 15 hits, six RBIs, including two home runs, and an OPS of .808. He went 5-for-18 during the World Series with two crucial hits, which allowed him to score two runs to help his team pull off a stunning comeback in Game 5 and clinch the World Series.

Hernandez joined the Dodgers at the 2023 trade deadline for his second spell with the team, and he is set to become a free agent at the end of this year.
