Kansas City Royals pitcher Alec Marsh is married to former college softball player Makenna Harper. The couple exchanged vows in Dec. 2023. Royals teammates Bobby Witt Jr., MJ Melendez, Spencer Torkelson and Vinnie Pasquantino, attended the wedding ceremony organized at Fallbrook, California.
On Sunday, Makenna took to social media to share her latest culinary triumph: her first attempt at baking sourdough bread. The photo showcased a perfectly baked loaf resting on a cooling rack, with its golden crust and artisanal texture stealing the spotlight. She captioned the image:
“My first sourdough loaf & it turned out beautifully 😊.”
The loaf's appearance — a lovely crackled crust dusted with flour — suggests she nailed the challenging art of sourdough baking, which has become a popular hobby in recent years.
Sourdough bread is known for its complexity, as it requires a live culture starter, meticulous timing and careful technique. For a first attempt, Makenna’s results seem impressive.
How did Alec Marsh and Makenna met each other?
Alec Marsh and Makenna, a former softball player from Arizona State University, first crossed paths in college thanks to a chance encounter facilitated by a mutual friend, according to their wedding website.
In the summer before his junior year, Alec stumbled upon a Snapchat story featuring Makenna, posted by a mutual friend on the ASU softball team. Instantly intrigued, the pitcher asked his friend to invite Makenna to a party.
Within two months of meeting, Makenna moved into Alec’s place. Fast forward to Dec. 2, 2023, Alec proposed to Makenna at the iconic Wrigley Mansion in Phoenix, Arizona.
Marsh wasn't the only Royal changing his status from bachelor to married. AL MVP finalist Bobby Witt Jr. also tied the knot with Maggie Black in December, and Michael Massey exchanged vows with DeJarld in November.
On the baseball front, Alec Marsh's Royals reached the ALDS round, where they were defeated by the Yankees in four games. With their core returning, they hope to make a deep postseason run in 2025 as well.
