Trevor Bauer is known to be very straightforward in everything he feels about the baseball world. This time he has taken note of former legend Alex Rodriguez's transition from getting into a legal battle with the MLB to becoming a main broadcaster for the league.
Speaking on the Wealthy Way podcast hosted by Ryan Pineda, Trevor was initially discussing the broadcast and sports pundit landscape. When Pineda shifted the conversation to MLB doing well in that department by bringing back former stars like Alex Rodriguez, who is a broadcaster for FOX, Bauer ran point about his well-publicized legal battle.
"He goes from suing the league and getting, like, banished, and two years later he's like the face of their broadcasting team. Like, that flip was crazy. Yeah, he wasn't even allowed to—like, they basically kicked him out of the last, like, five years of his career," Bauer said. [27:00]
Alex Rodriguez sued the MLB back in 2013 when he was banned for the entire season for his involvement in taking anti-aging drugs related to the Biogenesis scandal. He had alleged that the league was conducting a 'witch hunt' by tarnishing his reputation and paying big amounts to get testimonies against him.
Trevor Bauer says A-Rod returned to the MLB because he had more friends in the office
The former NL Cy Young awardee was suspended by the MLB back in 2021, but he was very outspoken and attracted a lot of media attention in the ten seasons prior. While discussing Alex Rodriguez's case, he refused to accept that he would have a similar strategy because there are people in the MLB office that 'hated' him.
"The league office has had people, like, tasked with watching my social medias and, like, trying to find a way to suspend me or get me out of there for years before this happened. Like, it started in 2019, like 2020, they had three people that were sitting there tasked, like, watching my games, trying to find a way to suspend me. Very antagonistic relationship, 100% my fault.
"I will take full ownership of that. I'm not putting the blame on them. If I were to do it over again, I would have tried to get on their good side and, like, helped, you know, helped grow the game. I was trying to help grow the game, but I just did it the wrong way," Bauer said. [27:50]
Even Bauer is aware that he will not return to playing for any MLB club in the future because of the rift and negative PR he has attached to himself.
