New York Yankees announcer Michael Kay got enraged in the recent episode of "The Michael Kay Show" after a caller criticized him for being biased towards the Bronx Bombers. Kay was adamant about keeping the caller on the episode and snapped at him stating that he does nothing but criticize the Yankees.
The caller was a fan of the team, however, they believed that Kay didn't say much about Yankees manager Aaron Boone. This came up because the team has been going through a slump, and many pundits are blaming Boone for his poor management.
"I am not going to hang up on you. I'm going to let you spew your nonsense. All I do is sit here and criticize the Yankees every day. Are you hard of hearing? Are you hard of hearing, Mike?" Kay said.
After this, he also made the caller remember the things he had said about Aaron Boone and was distressed by the remarks.
"I have said that Boone acts in concert with the front office. I'm giving you reasons what's going on. I have said over and over, they have a chance of falling out of the postseason. What do you want me to do? I don't understand what you want me to do, Mike. Go find it somewhere else," Kay added.
Michael Kay criticizes the New York Yankees for random standoff
While a 17-loss skid in the last 25 games and a series defeat to the Cincinnati Reds, Michael Kay aimed at another precarious moment on July 4th. The two injured Yankee relievers, Ian Hamilton and Cody Poteet engaged in a lighthearted "standoff" with Reds pitchers during the national anthem.
The players remained standing, a playful competition to see who would last the longest. However, Michael Kay, found the display "childish" during his ESPN radio show the following day.
“The stare-off that they had. Yeah, are you kidding me? That’s not the New York Yankees," Kay said. "You don’t do that. Let other teams do that. It looks so small. I gotta be honest, I’m not one of these people. I hate it, by the way: What would (late owner) George (Steinbrenner) do? They might have been released if George was alive. Well, again, I mean that. And the manager would have been read the riot act to let it happen. The New York Yankees. You’re wearing pinstripes."
Michael Kay didn't think it looked good on the Yankees' part, and more so when they ended up losing the series against the Reds.
