The Los Angeles Dodgers recently designated infielder Amed Rosario to make space for the returning Mookie Betts. This came as a shock to many fans and analysts as Rosario had been acquired at the trade deadline and was expected to be a constant feature off the bench.

Amed Rosario has been around in the MLB for quite some time. After three years in Queens with the New York Mets, Rosario was the primary shortstop for the Cleveland Guardians from 2021-23 before being traded to the Dodgers in the second half of last year.

Rosario was brought back by the Dodgers from the Tampa Bay Rays, with whom he had signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal at the start of the season. Because of the star-studded Dodgers roster, he is expected to be waived off as he wouldn't want to be sidelined with a .307 batting average so far this season.

Here's a closer look at three possible destinations for Rosario.

3 potential destinations for Amed Rosario after being DFA'd by Dodgers

#1. Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles suffered blows to Jordan Westburg and Jorge Mateo. They have several youngsters inside the diamond including Gunnar Henderson and Jackson Holliday. However, the team showed signs of willingness to add some experience to their infield depth. The O's could be a perfect destination for Rosario, who could also play in the outfield in a utility purpose, splitting time with Austin Slater in LF.

#2. New York Yankees

Like the Orioles, the New York Yankees were on the lookout for utility players inside the diamond. They seemed to have fixed that problem by signing Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Miami Marlins, but hopes were dashed as he suffered a UCL injury and is currently on the IL. Rosario could fill in a similar role for New York, splitting time at third base and in the outfield, if required.

#3. Cleveland Guardians

While with the Cleveland Guardians, Rosario became one of the best contact hitters in the league. In 2022, he notched up 180 hits and 71 RBIs as their primary shortstop. His numbers have gone down a bit but remain decent to make it to a strong Guardians lineup looking at a deep playoff push. Rosario also knows a few key players in the team and is known to have excellent rapport with Jose Ramirez.
