Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout has been the face of the franchise and arguably the MLB for almost a decade and has built a Hall of Fame-worthy resume in the process.

However, the three-time American League MVP has struggled with injuries over the last few years. Since 2021, Trout has played 266 games out of a potential 648 for the Angels.

Injuries troubled Mike Trout last year as he played just 29 games before tearing his meniscus in April. Trout had made a stellar start to the campaign, being the fastest to hit 10 home runs last season. However, he played no part in the Angels' season after his injury.

Angels pundits Mike Frisch and Jon discussed a potential solution to keep Trout healthy on the "Locked on Angels" podcast. When Jon asked Frisch how to keep healthy, Mike said (30:10 onwards):

"I think they have to utilize their players in the best possible way. You have to decide if Jorge Soler is going to be your full-time DH or is that going to be a rotating spot? Or if you want to have Mike Trout in that spot, does that mean that Jorge Soler then goes to the outfield for that game? They have to decide how they're going to rotate them in and then give them playing time and if they're gonna move them around, then move them around in a wise way."

He continued :

"I think that that's you have to make those decisions and then you have to be committed to the result of whatever the decision is. Of trying to play this mix and match and figure things out and be crafty, like you have to really be. I think everybody should bend and be flexible to Mike Trout. That's what I think."

MLB analyst predicts rebound season for Mike Trout

Mike Trout's potential return in 2024 faced another setback after the 11-time All-Star complained of knee soreness during a minor league game in July. It turned out to be a second torn meniscus in the year for Trout, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Despite Trout's disastrous 2024, MLB.com's Rhett Bolinger predicted a strong 2025 season for the All-Star. Bolinger predicted a 40+ home run season for the former Rookie of the Year.

"The thought is Trout, 33, will play more corner outfield to stay healthy and will respond with a 40-homer season while also being more aggressive on the bases," Bolinger wrote.

Angels manager Ron Washington hasn't discussed a position change for Mike Trout with Spring Training looming but is open to the idea when players get together in February.
