MLB and Los Angeles Angels analysts Jon and Mike Frisch on Thursday discussed Mike Trout, Anthony Rendon and the team's 2024 season.
Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf wrote a letter to the fans following the White Sox's dreadful season, and the Frisch brothers speculated whether a similar letter from Angels owner Arte Moreno might be forthcoming.
Moreno bought the Angels, back then known as the Anaheim Angels, for upwards of $180 million in May 2003, right after their World Series triumph in the 2002 season.
On Oct. 3's episode of "Locked On Angels," Jon Frisch talked about Moreno's response, or lack of one, to Angels fans after a poor season.:
"For Arte, every decision that he makes is the right decision. I just wonder if he's at a point where he wonders that he can do no wrong. The few times he's spoken, it was 'Mike Trout wasn't healthy, and Anthony Rendon wasn't healthy,'" Frisch said. [4:00]
"It's a blame game. If that's what you're counting on, for those two to be healthy, you can't count on that anymore, you have to supplement this roster with something. It's no ownership from the owner," Frisch added.
Mike Trout posts heartfelt message of appreciation for Angels fans after 2024 season
The Los Angeles Angels ended their 2024 season with a defeat on Sunday. The Halos lost 8-0 to the Texas Rangers at Angel Stadium, getting swept in the process. With the loss, the Angels' record for the season stood at 63-99.
In what proved to be a difficult season, the LA outfit dearly missed the presence of arguably its most influential player, Mike Trout, who was unable to play since the end of April due to a recurring knee injury. Following the end of the season, Trout took to Instagram to thank the fans for their support.
For now, Trout and the Angels have a big offseason on their hands. Angels fans will be hoping their superstar can put the injuries firmly behind him as the 2025 season rolls around, and potentially inspire the Angels to their first playoff berth since 2014.
