Blake Snell found himself in a position to record his second no-hitter in the month of August following another brilliant performance on Monday night. The San Francisco Giants pitcher recorded six innings without allowing a single run while striking out 10 batters when they hosted the Atlanta Braves at Oracle Park.

The Giants faced the Braves for the first clash of a four-game series between the two National League teams. It turned out to be a terrific pitchers' duel between the Giants ace Blake Snell and his Braves counterpart Chris Sale.

Sale, who is regarded as one of the top contenders for the Cy Young Award this season, gave up just three hits in seven shutout innings with 12 strikeouts. Meanwhile, Snell had allowed only two walks and racked up 10 strikeouts before the no-hitter was broken in the seventh inning.

Many fans posted their thoughts on X on Monday night when Blake Snell seemed to be on course for his second no-hitter of the month.

"Another gem by Snell, he's cooking!" wrote one fan.
"He’s locked in right now," another fan wrote.
"I guess dude is back," another fan posted, referring to the reigning Cy Young winner's return to form after a rocky start to the season.

One fan believes Snell's stellar performances since returning from the IL could spell a big payday for him.

"Bro gonna get paid in the offseason," the fan predicted.

However, some fans felt that facing a depleted Atlanta Braves lineup that has been ravaged by injuries helped Blake Snell a great deal. Meanwhile, others noted that the home plate umpire had an expanded strike zone during the game.

"This feeble Braves team swings at everything and CB Bucknor has called about 7-8 strikes on the Braves that were actually balls," wrote one unimpressed fan.
"It’s against the Braves offense. This isn't hard to do," wrote another fan.

Despite the commanding performance from Snell, the Giants hitters could not score a run in the entire game and ended up losing 1-0 after extra innings.

Blake Snell has boosted his market value considerably for the offseason

Although Blake Snell finished the 2023 campaign as the Cy Young Award winner in the American League he did not receive any long-term offers when he was a free agent at the start of this season. Despite having elite-level stuff, the southpaw pitcher has often faced questions about his endurance and ability to go deep into games.

Snell eventually signed a two-year, $62 million deal with the San Francisco Giants with an opt-out option for the player at the end of 2024. His performances at the start of the season did not do his reputation any good, but the leftie has certainly boosted his market value with his displays in the second half of the campaign.

Therefore, Snell will definitely become a free agent again at the end of the season, and this time he could land that long-term contract that he has been looking for.
