Randy Arozarena of the Seattle Mariners recently commended the impact teammate Victor Robles brings to the team. Both combined early in their win against the New York Mets on Saturday, with Robles scoring the game's opening run and Arozarena batting him in.
Speaking to Fanatics View after the victory, Randy talked about how the qualities Robles has on the defensive side of the game.
"[5:07] He's a big guy, has a lot of good glove. He definitely helps me a lot with fly balls, we are both able to reach them." Arozarena said through an interpreter.
Arozarena also discussed how Robles' presence on the field helps him, and his importance to the team.
"[5:02] It's a lot of fun being out there [with Robles]. Victor's an electrifying guy. Everything he does is very important for this club," Arozarena said.
Logan Gilbert, Victor Robles, and Mariners defense shine in latest shutout victory
The Seattle defense was at its best again, as the New York Mets offense was held in check for the second day in a row. Starting pitcher Logan Gilbert had another solid outing on the mound, striking out six and only walking one batter in seven innings.
On the offensive end, Robles got the ball rolling early for the home side with a leadoff double. He went on to score the first of three first-inning runs, as the hosts set the tone for another good day at the office.
The Mariners take on the Mets in the final game of the series on Sunday, eyeing a sweep to close out a successful homestand. Fans will hope Victor Robles and his teammates can carry the momentum until the end of the season as the Houston Astros continue to make the race for the top spot in the American League West interesting.
