Austin Riley and Matt Olson have been teammates in Atlanta since the 2022 season when the latter was traded from the Oakland Athletics. The two share a close bond and so have their better halves.
The closeness between the two families was on display when Riley's wife Anna made a heartfelt comment under Olsons' maternity post on Instagram. Photographer Molly White uploaded pictures of the two with their pet dog, Cooper, appearing with them in the last slide.
Anna commented that the main attraction for the entire photoshoot was Cooper.
Earlier on Father's Day this year, Matt and Nicole announced they were expecting a baby child. The message also featured Cooper as through him they welcomed the newest member of the family.
"Cooper is getting a baby brother this December 🥹🩵," the caption read.
Matt Olson and Nicole have been together for more than seven years. The pair celebrated their third marriage anniversary in Nov. Before that, they had been dating for four years. The pair got married at the Four Seasons Hotel in Atlanta.
Meanwhile, Austin and his wife Anna have known each other since their school days. The two got engaged in 2017 and got married the following year. The couple shares two sons, Eason and William "Beau", born in 2022 and 2024 respectively.
Matt Olson's funny story about Cooper sleeping in a crate
As per Matt and Nicole, their dog Cooper had been crate-trained from an early age. In 2022, after Matt and Nicole moved to Atlanta from Oakland, he opened up about how he chose the crate over the soft comfort of their bed.
“He won’t sleep anywhere but his crate at night. During this last road trip, my wife tried to get him to sleep in bed with her. He got up there, slept a little bit, like 30 minutes, and jumped off, got in his crate himself and went to sleep,” Olson said in May 2022.
Olson is regarded as one of the best sluggers in the game. He has consistently hit 34 or more home runs in his last four full seasons but struggled a bit in 2024 logging only 29. He set the Braves franchise record last season with 54 homers. He provides strong leadership to the Atlanta lineup.
