Game 5 of the American League Division Series between the Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers will be moved as the result of impending poor weather on the forecast. While the winner-take-all game will still be played on Saturday, it will be earlier in the day to avoid any weather delays.

It was slated to start at prime time at 8:08 p.m. ET but it will be moved several hours earlier. The must-win game will now start at 1:08 p.m. ET as the MLB hopes the matchup will be played without interruption.

The game will be at Progressive Field in Cleveland and will see the two clubs square off with a ticket to the ALCS on the line. This is the second instance that the time for the first pitch has been moved as it was originally scheduled at 4:38 p.m. ET.

Another reason why the game was shifted to an earlier time slot is that any potential postponement would cause complications to the ALCS schedule, with Game 1 scheduled for Monday. This will give either the Cleveland Guardians or Detroit Tigers adequate time to travel and prepare for their first game against the New York Yankees.

Some fans have claimed that the time change for the Guardians and Tigers is due to college football

Despite the Cleveland Guardians making the official announcement that the game was moved to avoid any potential weather delays, some fans were not convinced and were suspicious.

They took to social media with theories that the real reason was because of the college football matchup between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Oregon Ducks.

The football game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET so some fans believe that the decision was made so that it won't lose viewership or have low attendance.

Although this may simply be speculation, there is no denying the fact that the time change will benefit fans of both OSU and the Guardians, who were perhaps hoping to watch both games. Either way, it will be a massive sporting Saturday for the State of Ohio.
