Miami Marlins slugger Jesus Sanchez clubbed the biggest home run of the season, surpassing Jorge Soler's 478-footer, as he sent the ball way up in the stands at LoanDepot Park. Sanchez crushed the ball for 480 feet against Jakob Junis of the Cincinnati Reds in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The changeup from Junis received special treatment, with Sanchez barreling his 13th dinger for 116.4 mph exit velocity. The home run cut the deficit to 7-1 for the Marlins.
Fans on the internet were buzzing as Sanchez struck the MLB's longest home run this season.
"That is I N S AN E 💪" one fan commented.
"Jeezy Nukes !" another added.
"Balls headed to Cuba," another wrote.
"Is it just me or everytime I see a video of Jesús Sanchez hitting a home run it’s a 450 foot plus bomb," another fan added.
However, some fans didn't think it went 480 feet.
"Struggling to accept that was only 480 feet," one commented.
"eh, that wasn't an inch over 475'," another wrote.
Despite his longest hit of the season, Sanchez suffered a blowout 10-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. For the Reds, Elly De La Cruz crushed two homers, contributing three RBIs and scoring three as well.
