"Baseball's version of Tim Duncan" - Sportscaster makes NBA legend comparison for MLB star flying under the radar with Mike Trout-esque consistency

Since starting his career in the MLB 14 years ago, Mike Trout has been one of baseball's most consistent stars. It took him part of a season to adjust to the game, and he has not looked back since.

Trout has been the pinnacle of what a superstar in this league looks like, setting the example. However, the string of injuries over the last few years has been disappointing.

Another player has also been consistent throughout the years but does not get the same recognition. Baseball Today's hosts Chris Rose and Trevor Plouffe would like some more respect put on Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez's name.

"He makes the extraordinary feel ordinary. Like, he is so consistent and consistency in this sport will get you to Cooperstown, but sometimes it doesn't get you a ton of headlines," - said Rose.

He got off to a rocky start to the season but has been incredible since. Through 124 games, he is hitting .311/.399/.564 with 28 home runs and 71 runs batted in.

"It's a little bit like being baseball's version of Tim Duncan, who was so great, one of the great players in NBA history," - said Rose.

Rose compares Alvarez to NBA legend Timm Duncan. Duncan was not the flashiest player in the league, but he got the job done night after night and was a core piece of the San Antonio Spurs' success.

Being consistent does not mean you just perform during the regular season. You must also perform well during MLB's postseason, and Yordan Alvarez has been spectacular in October.

"To me, he's the guy you can rely on 100% in the postseason. I didn't know the numbers but I feel like he's the guy. Career .949 OPS" - said Plouffe.

Alvarez has a career OBP of .949 to go along with a .295 batting average and 12 home runs. The lights do not seem too bright in October for this slugger.

Alvarez has a chance to increase those numbers this year. While starting the season off on the wrong foot, the Astros have made a major climb up the American League West standings.

They sit atop the division with their 71-62 record. They sit 3.5 games ahead of the Seattle Mariners, and this division could come down to the final series.
