It's a hard time to be a Minnesota Twins fan, as the team is barely on the move to the playoff picture. With things falling apart after their latest defeats against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, fans are devastated about their team's chances of making the playoffs.
The Red Sox won the doubleheader as the Twins dropped to the fourth spot in the AL Central. They are now behind the Detroit Tigers and the Kansas City Royals, who are both above them in the AL Wild Card standings.
Fans are upset about the Twins' second defeat as they gave up nine runs and scored only three in return. With six games remaining, they are one game back of the third AL Wild Card spot and are lacking in momentum.
Reacting to their loss, fans took to social media to express their disappointment.
Here's a look at some of the fan reactions from X.
"You're a bigger embarrassment than the White Sox," wrote one fan.
"I guess I can burn those playoff tickets. Won't be needing them," another fan added.
"Imagine being so close to taking the division lead, to dropping out of postseason contention altogether in less than a month," one fan wrote.
Comments continued to flow as some fans blamed the ownership for their tough situation.
This disaster is not Falvey’s fault. It’s not Rocco’s fault. This is 100% the fault of shortsighted ownership. I am expecting to hear that Genius Joe is lopping off another $10-20M in payroll this off-season," one fan chipped in.
"Rockhead makes crappy decisions and it costs them. Ownership is worse," added one fan, possibly referring to manager Rocco Baldelli in the first part.
"Who is to blame at this point? Pohlads, terrible hitting, pitching, coaching, or all of the above?" one fan chimed in.
