It's been a relatively quiet offseason for the Baltimore Orioles. Despite being considered one of the top World Series contenders in the American League, the team has been unable to sign some of the biggest names on the free-agent market. The team's most notable offseason additions have been Gary Sanchez, Tyler O'Neill and Japanese pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano.

The Orioles dipped into the nostalgia pool with their latest addition. While it may not be a player for the upcoming season, they announced on Monday that they have hired former All-Star Adam Jones to be a special advisor for the club.

Bringing back one of the team's best players of the 2000s and 2010s is an exciting move; however, some fans have taken to social media to take shots at the decision. Most of the reactions have nothing to do with Jones, instead aiming at the Orioles front office for its relatively disappointing offseason.

"Way to mask the lack of spending!" one fan wrote.
"Wow, their best signing of the off-season," another fan commented.
"Imagine a scenario where fans care about this and not about building the actual team," one fan tweeted.

Even though the Baltimore Orioles have one of the best young cores in baseball, the team lost several significant players this offseason in free agency, including Anthony Santander and Corbin Burnes. The front office has been unable to re-sign them or find similar-level replacements which has left some fans concerned and frustrated with the direction of the team.

"Biggest addition Baltimore has made all offseason," one fan wrote.
"Bruh i thought we signed somebody," another fan commented.
"One good thing this front office has done this off season," one fan wrote.

Adam Jones was a force for the Baltimore Orioles throughout his tenure with the club

Fans may be frustrated by the lack of significant moves made by the front office this offseason; however, bringing a true fan favorite back into the fold is a win for everyone involved. During his 11 seasons with Baltimore, Adam Jones was a true superstar in every definition of the word.

The outfielder's ability to get on base, make elite defensive plays and smash home runs made him must-watch television for Orioles fans. A five-time all-star and four-time Gold Glove Award winner, it will be interesting to see what kind of impact he can have on the team and some of their young players such as Jackson Holliday and Colton Cowser.
