San Francisco Giants fans haven't been too pleased with ace pitcher Blake Snell signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers after spending just one year with them. The ace pitcher signed a five-year $182 million contract with LA after opting out of his two-year $62 million deal with their NL West rivals.

The San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers share a long-standing rivalry dating back to both the teams' history when they were based out of New York. Currently in California, the two franchises continue to be bitter rivals.

It was expected that Blake Snell would receive some hatred from Giants fans after his new deal was finalized. Snell made a regular post on Instagram about spending time with his developmental under-12 team, Zilla National.

A fan tried to troll the former Cy Young winner, stating that he went after money instead of choosing 'greatness' with the Giants. Snell, who isn't shy about making his feelings known, shut up the troll with a brutal reply declaring his love for his new franchise.

"Go dodgers 💙 be upset with your team. Don’t hate when you don’t know anything other than where I signed," Snell wrote.

His comments might indicate that the Giants were probably not interested in keeping Snell and were better off with him opting out after his first year with the team.

After signing the contract late in the offseason in 2024, Snell had a below-par start. He was sidelined due to injury soon after, but upon return, became one of the best pitchers in the league, finishing with a 5-3, 3.12 ERA record.

Dave Roberts opens up on Dodgers' Blake Snell acquisition

Speaking on the Dodgers Territory podcast's latest episode on Monday, skipper Dave Roberts made his feelings known about the team signing Blake Snell to the five-year deal.

"The thing that I really love is not only the talent, but it's a guy that hasn't won a championship," Roberts said. "It's hard to quantify hunger, and this guy wants it really bad. That's why he chose to sign with the Dodgers." [23:44]

Snell's contract has a big signing bonus of $52 million and also includes a deferred salary of $66 million that Los Angeles will be paying the 32-year-old from 2028 to 2046.
