Two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell has agreed to a five-year, $182 million deal with the LA Dodgers. The deal was announced on Tuesday as the Dodgers added another bonafide ace to their already highly acclaimed roster.
Among the happiest with the deal was his wife Haeley who took to social media, posting a photo of Snell in a Dodgers blue jersey. The post was a repost of Snell's story who announced him joining the Dodgers on his social media.
Snell finally got what he wanted - a multi-year deal with a contender. There's no better feeling than joining a team on the West Coast that's as competitive as a team can get. The Dodgers are coming off a World Series and look good in oddsmakers' eyes to repeat as champions in 2025.
Blake Snell's year from short-term deal to finally settling in LA with a newborn at hand
Last winter, after finishing the year winning the Cy Young most believed, Blake Snell would sign a blockbuster multi-year deal. However, it never materialized with teams not agreeing with Snell's expectations.
Thus late in the offseason with Spring Training started, Snell signed a two-year, $62 million contract with the San Francisco Giants with opt-outs in place.
Amid this, Blake Snell and Haeley would become parents for the first time welcoming a baby boy named Kaedyn in June. Two months later, Snell would pitch a no-hitter on August 2 against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ballpark.
After finishing the year with a 5-3 and a 3.12 ERA, Snell decided to decline the $38.5 million contract option to become a free agent. Meanwhile, the couple enjoyed their first offseason with a newborn, while Scott Boras negotiated deals on his behalf to decide their next destination.
Capping off the season, Blake Snell said:
"What an amazing year it has been for us! Love you 🤟🏻"
After the Dodgers deal was announced the family can rest knowing, Snell would almost be busy every October. Meanwhile, the Dodgers continue to assemble another All-Star team for next season.
