Last week, Blake Snell and his family had even more reasons to celebrate than just Thanksgiving. Snell, who was on a two-year, $62 million contract with the San Francisco Giants, opted out of his contract to become a free agent.
Unlike last year, Snell's free agency didn't last long. The Dodgers and the left-handed pitcher agreed on a five-year, $182 million deal, which will keep him with the team through the 2029 season.
On Saturday, the Dodgers released a special hype video, welcoming Snell to the organization. The video featured a visit to the museum in the Dodgers facility, where the Cy Young trophy was highlighted before turning to Snell, the two-time recipient of the same award, Snell, now wearing a Dodgers uniform.
Snell's girlfriend Haeley reposted the video on her Instagram while adding blue-faced emojis.
Blake Snell's message to Dodgers fans after signing multi-year contract
Blake Snell has far better stats against the Dodgers than most ace pitchers in the modern MLB. The southpaw is 2-2 with an ERA of 2.62 and 86 strikeouts in 14 appearances against the Dodgers. However, the Dodgers fans no longer need to fear seeing Snell in Chavez Ravine and rather would be cheering behind him as the star hurler joins the Dodgers.
After the club formally announced the deal on Saturday, Snell took to his social media and shared a message for his new fanbase.
"What up Dodger fans, it's Blake Snow here. Really excited to be at Dodger. Can't wait to win more championships with you guys. And see y'all at Dodger Stadium," Snell said in the video.
Even in his off-field life, Blake Snell has been doing well. Along with Haeley, Snell became a proud father of a baby boy named Kaedyn in June. The couple is embracing parenthood with the child this offseason. And now that he has nothing more to do this offseason, Snell could plan to spend more quality time with the newborn.
