For the third straight season, the Kansas City Chiefs are heading to the Super Bowl. NFL's modern-day dynasty edged out Josh Allen's Buffalo Bills, 32-29, in a nail-biting AFC Championship Game. KC has now won four of the last five AFC deciders and will appear on football's biggest stage with the same streak.

One of the many athletes that were in attendance during this year's AFC Championship Game was Kansas City Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. The 2024 MLB batting champion had an enthusiastic reaction about the defending NFL champions' return to the Super Bowl.

Kansas City is now scheduled to defend its NFL title in Super Bowl LIX against a familiar foe, the Philadelphia Eagles. The two squads previously faced off in Super Bowl LVII two years ago with the Chiefs clutching out a 38-35 win. Patrick Mahomes and Co. are now staring at the face of history as they attempt to be the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

Another MLB star who celebrated the Chiefs' victory was Royals captain Salvador Perez. A champion in his own right, Perez has expressed support for the NFL squad on several occasions even before the latter established themselves as the NFL's goliaths.

Perez has appeared multiple times during the NFL outfit's games and has even hyped up the crowd via the ceremonial banging of the drum at Arrowhead Stadium.

Coming from a small market city like Kansas City, it is refreshing to see that both the Chiefs and Royals have thrived and reached the pinnacles of their sport in recent years.

The Royals appeared in back-to-back World Series during the 2014-2015 seasons led by Perez. Although they fell to the San Francisco Giants in a nail-biting seven-game series in 2014, they bounced back and overwhelmed the New York Mets in the following year's Fall Classic — their first MLB title since 1985.
