The two squads previously faced off in Super Bowl LVII two years ago with the Chiefs clutching out a 38-35 win. Patrick Mahomes and Co. are now staring at the face of history as they attempt to be the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

Another MLB star who celebrated the Chiefs' victory was Royals captain Salvador Perez. A champion in his own right, Perez has expressed support for the NFL squad on several occasions even before the latter established themselves as the NFL's goliaths.

Perez has appeared multiple times during the NFL outfit's games and has even hyped up the crowd via the ceremonial banging of the drum at Arrowhead Stadium.

Coming from a small market city like Kansas City, it is refreshing to see that both the Chiefs and Royals have thrived and reached the pinnacles of their sport in recent years.

The Royals appeared in back-to-back World Series during the 2014-2015 seasons led by Perez. Although they fell to the San Francisco Giants in a nail-biting seven-game series in 2014, they bounced back and overwhelmed the New York Mets in the following year's Fall Classic — their first MLB title since 1985.
