Despite the best efforts of star men Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, the New York Yankees remain inconsistent this season. With left-fielder Alex Verdugo struggling for form, manager Aaron Boone had the chance to call up highly-regarded prospect Jasson Dominguez in his place for a much-needed shake-up but has so far continued to persist with the established personnel.

Before coming into the series with the Chicago Cubs, New York lost its last three series - to the Washington Nationals, Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals.

In a post via X on Monday, Talkin' Yanks announced that Dominguez was finally going to be in the lineup for the series opener with the Kansas City Royals.

However, Judge is set to be moved to DH to make room in defense, keeping Verdugo in left. Aaron Boone came under fire from frustrated supporters on X, as fans were left exasperated with Verdugo continuing to start for the side despite underperforming lately.

"Still gotta watch verdugo? Serious," another fan wrote.
"What the hell is Stanton injured ???? why else would verdugo been in the lineup cut him from the team already," said a vexed fan.
"Boone still scared to hurt Verdugo’s feelings lm*o," another fan joked.

Yankees lose last game in Chicago as Cubs avoid the sweep

The New York Yankees lost 2-1 at Wrigley Field on Sunday, as the Chicago Cubs held on to a one-run advantage for virtually the whole game to avoid being swept. Isaac Paredes kept his cool to bat in two runners with two outs in the first inning to give the hosts an early advantage.

The starting pitchers for both sides, Jameson Taillon and Gerrit Cole, recorded quality starts, pitching six innings each. Next, the Yankees head back home to begin their next series against the Kansas City Royals. Coming off a solid performance in Texas, Carlos Rodon takes to the mound for the hosts, as they aim to get back to winning ways on Monday.
