The 2025 Atlanta Braves roster has an impressive lineup boasting the likes of Ronald Acuna Jr., Matt Olson, Austin Riley and Marcell Ozuna. Even better is their rotation, comprising Chris Sale, a returning Spencer Strider along with Reynaldo Lopez as backup. The team is almost all set and could be a move or two away from making a title-clinching roster.
Braves insider Justin Toscano appeared on the Hammer Territory podcast, where he discussed the team's look for the 2025 season so far. He was satisfied with how the team was set up for the upcoming season, needing their lineup fit and a solid rotation as last year.
As per Toscano, the Braves would benefit immensely if they added a name like Tanner Scott to their bullpen.
"I want a Tanner Scott because I still think this team has enough offense to give it a lot of leads and that bullpen is kind of an equalizer. What I do is I think I weigh out and if I really want to upgrade across the diamond or, you know, in the outfield, I do it at the trade deadline again. I leave some money for that...
"The starting rotation I think you can get by with either a lesser addition or just filling from within. I think you can get by. I know that fifth, you know, sixth, eighth, whatever, however many options you want to say. I know that backend wouldn’t be pretty all the time, but I think there’s enough talent there where I feel good enough about Strider, Sale, Lopez, Schwellenbach," Toscano said. [12:58]
MLB Insider confirms Braves interest in Tanner Scott
As per MLB insider Jon Morosi and The Athletic's David O'Brien, Atlanta has put their name in the hat to sign Tanner Scott's services. They are currently up against the likes of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres as favorites to sign the reliever.
“Interestingly, there was one team mentioned that we weren’t necessarily expecting to be a heavy player in the relief market, that being the Atlanta Braves. David O’Brien reported in The Athletic recently the Braves have had some interest in Tanner Scott," Morosi said on the MLB Network.
Currently the Braves' bullpen comprises Raisel Iglesias as closer with arms like Jose Jimenez and Aaron Bummer in the set up roles.
Atlanta will be looking for a better performance than last year, when they exited the offseason early in the Wild Card Series.
