On Friday, Oakland Athletics outfielder Brent Rooker shared a video to his Instagram story, offering fans a glimpse of how his swing would look if he batted from the opposite side of the plate. A right-handed batter, Rooker normally bats from the right side of the plate.

Going off what Rooker captioned his story, it appears the 30-year-old likes the look of his alternate swing.

"I hate my right-handed swing after seeing this so that's cool" Brent Rooker captioned his Instagram story.

Rooker had a fantastic 2024 season with the Oakland Athletics, finishing the campaign with a .293 batting average and .927 OPS with 39 home runs and 112 RBIs. His excellent performances were rewarded in November, as he picked up his first-ever Silver Slugger award.

Despite Rooker's best efforts, the Athletics' last year in the iconic Oakland Coliseum was one to forget, as they ended the season second from bottom in AL West with a 69-93 win/loss record. Only the Los Angeles Angels fared worse.

Brent Rooker "excited" after having extended his stint with the Athletics

After being arguably their best offensive player in 2024, the Athletics announced via X (formerly Twitter), on Wednesday that they had secured Brent Rooker's services for potentially the next six seasons.

"We have agreed to terms with Brent Rooker on a five-year contract through the 2029 season, with a club option for 2030." The Athletics announced

Rooker later quoted the post to express his excitement at continuing his stint with the A's.

"We’re building something exciting and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this organization for years to come" Rooker posted

Though there is currently plenty of uncertainty surrounding the A's, who find themselves amidst a hectic rebranding process, agreeing terms with one of their most important players ensures they have a solid fixture at left field for the years to come.
