Brewers ace Corbin Burnes rips MLB for again adjusting the pitch clock rules before Opening Day: "We're still changing the rules. That can't happen"

Corbin Burnes is not a fan of Major League Baseball right now. The league introduced a pitch clock this season to speed up the game and that comes with new rules. Pitchers and batters had spring training to get used to the new rules.

However, Burnes learned that they altered one of the rules regarding the pitch clock just a week ago. Now, pitchers cannot come set until the batter is fully engaged in the batter's box, which has to happen with at least eight seconds left.

Burnes is fine with the rule, but he's not happy with having to adjust once again when the league stated the rules were final before spring training.

Burnes lit into the league and their ever-changing rules:

"Apparently, they made a change to the rule last week that we can't come set now until the batter is fully engaged in the box, which is by eight seconds. So I guess that was changed a couple days ago, and I didn't know about it.
"So the league has got to do something to finalizing these rules and now that we're two weeks away from the season starting, we're still changing the rules. That can't happen."

He continued:

"We've got to get on top of that. Umpires are still out there trying to learn the rules as they go. The thought coming in that everything was finalized and we had a month to figure everything out. As we're going, things are changing, which, that's got to stop."

With Opening Day coming soon, pitchers may struggle to adjust by then.

Corbin Burnes will lead the Milwaukee Brewers

Corbin Burnes is a bonafide ace. If the Brewers are to get back into contention this year in the NL Central, then it's going to be because of Burnes. The former Cy Young winner is one of the best in baseball.

The Brewers have a talented roster, but it all starts at the top. Without Burnes, their staff would be lost. As a result, he's going to carry the load and he's likely going to have another All-Star caliber season.
