The 2025 MLB season is shaping up as one of the most anticipated ones in recent memory. The plethora of player movement during this hot stove has given fans a lot to look forward to ahead of next year's campaign.
In MLB Network's signature show "MLB Tonight", broadcaster Greg Amsinger and Milwaukee Brewers legend Dan Plesac selected the best 1-2 batting combos in the league next year. Among the duo's picks were the Los Angeles Dodgers' multi-time MVP pairing of Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts, New York Yankees' Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger and Philadelphia Phillies' Bryce Harper and Trea Turner.
Amsinger started the discussion by bringing up the New York Mets' new pairing of Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto to try and gauge their place amongst the top duos. Amsinger and Plesac talked about the Mets pair, who were both nominated for their respective league's MVP Awards last season.
"If Shohei Ohtani didn't exist, Lindor would've won MVP in the National League," Plesac said.

The sportscasters then briefly mentioned Astros stars Jose Altuve and Yordan Alvarez before proceeding with the Philadelphia Phillies' combo of Bryce Harper and Trea Turner.
"I think Trea Turner could have a better year next season. Perhaps even a 30/30," said Plesac. "I think Bryce Harper would be a candidate for NL MVP," Amsinger added.

Amsinger and Plesac also briefly mentioned the Blue Jays' duo of Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. With the latter turning down a contract extension, it's not farfetched to say that Vladdy Jr. would ramp up his numbers to land a bigger payday at the end of 2025.
They then proceeded to tackle the American League champion New York Yankees and their new pairing of Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger. After Juan Soto's switch to the Mets, the Yankee front office wasted no time and traded for former NL MVP Cody Bellinger in a deal with the Cubs.
"I'll put them near the top of the list. I'm not going to say they're the best but they're going to be a lethal tandem," Plesac said.

Dan Plesac dubs Ohtani-Betts as the best batting duo in MLB
Brewers legend Dan Plesac named Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts as the best batting pair in the MLB today.
"Shohei Ohtani is the best player in baseball. He's the face of baseball. Him and Mookie Betts are the best in the game and it's hard to argue," Plesac said.
(from 2:45 mark onwards)
Plesac added that Betts is somewhat underappreciated for what he brings to the squad given its star power. He further added that Betts might be the most complete player in the game today who can be relied upon when it comes to hitting, running, stealing bases and defending.
