Two-time Home Run Derby winner Pete Alonso faced a first-round exit in the eight-slugger competition on Monday night at Globe Life Field. Alonso was one of the favorites to win the competition but, surprisingly, could only muster home runs, ranking him seventh in the competition. His home run tally was only one better than Gunnar Henderson's 11, which was another surprise.
Alonso's performance attracted unimpressed reactions from fans on the internet. Netizens were sharp in their criticism, with some pointing towards his 'stamina' while others saw this as an "embarrassment" to his team.

One fan compared him to a "Polar Bear" as a way to mock the first baseman:
"Bro has the stamina of Aaron Rodgers on the Jets," one posted.
"Thank you for embarrassing the Mets should of been nimmo instead pete didn't deserve a all star spot," another fan commented.
"Homie stole a all star spot for this performance 😭," another added.
It was tough to find any positive reactions as fans took him for a ride on the internet.
"He heard the national anthem and was immediately tilted," one fan used Ingred Andress underwhelming National Anthem performance to mock Pete Alonso.
"I think they can stop insisting Pete be in the Home Run Derby every year now," one consider this as a failed move by league for having Alonso up there.
