Bruce Bochy and Brian Sabean are responsible for one of the most unique dynasties in baseball recently. Together, they piloted the San Francisco Giants to three titles, one every other year. They won in 2010, 2012 and 2014 with those two involved.

Now, they're heading to different teams. Bochy will manage the Texas Rangers in 2023 and Sabean is in a key front office role with the New York Yankees.

Everything about baseball is getting younger, from the executives to the managers. Neither of these two fits that bill, but they're proving that their time isn't over.

Sabean told USA Today:

“The one thing that always bothered me was that everybody said we were dinosaurs. We were not dinosaurs. Dinosaurs are extinct. Getting these jobs proves that we are not extinct.’’

Bochy said:

“Some people thought I was done. The chances of me managing was getting slimmer each year. After awhile, I really didn’t know whether I would manage again. But maybe the great jobs that Dusty and Buck did helped me get a call. But I also knew it had to be the right fit, the right situation, and this felt perfect for me.’’

Sabean added that he still has a lot to provide a team today:

"People don’t give enough credit for all of the experience, intelligence and baseball acumen from people from our generation. Maybe this pendulum is swinging where it’s a valuable asset again. It just feels so good to be wanted again, and needed. I’ve got a whole new lease on life, personally, and professionally.’’

He will be a special assistant to GM Brian Cashman as the two hope to end the Yankees' 14-year title drought.
