On Friday, Kayla Harper, wife of Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper, shared an update about some of the Ohio State football players partnering with local churches and institutions to spread the faith. It's no surprise, given the Harper couple often use their platforms to share their views on Christianity.
Senior running back TreVeyon Henderson, former wide receiver Kamryn Babb and others from the Buckeyes program distributed 10,000 Bibles to those who got baptized on Friday night.
Over 1,000 people attended the event, with around 60 new believers baptized by the players of the Ohio State football program.
"Scoo Bucks," Kayla reacted to the post.
Bryce Harper's faith in Christianity over the years
Bryce Harper and his wife Kayla are devout Christians, with Harper being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The same can be confirmed in most of his interviews, where he often expresses his gratitude for the Almighty for every monumental event of his career.
"Coming up to the draft and trying to make that decision, I always thought that my Heavenly Father upstairs always just wanted me to be a walking Book of Mormon, you could say," Harper said in a 2016 interview.
"I knew that I could touch a lot of people's lives playing and trying to be the best Mormon that I can be on and off the field." [via Washington Post].
Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bryce Harper used social media to show his faith in Christianity and assured everyone of the power of belief in the Almighty.
“Through the power of prayer and helping each other with pure intent and love, we will get through this TOGETHER!” Harper posted in April 2020. “Faith in our Lord and Savior will help heal the world.”
Bryce Harper and Kayla tied the knot in Dec. 2016 at the San Diego California Temple. The couple shares three kids: Krew Aron (born in August 2019), Brooklyn Elizabeth (born in November 2020) and Kamryn (born April 2024).
