"But they cheated, so that's not really the same" - Clayton Kershaw blasts Jose Altuve & Alex Bregman while discussing the game's top slugging duo

While it has been years since the Houston Astros cheating scandal, it is still on the mind of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw. The lefty still feels a certain way about how the team stole a World Series title from him in 2017.

For those that might somehow be unaware, Houston was disciplined for illegally using video camera systems to steal opposing catcher's signs. It was prevalent during the 2017 and 2018 seasons, causing mass outrage.

That scandal hurt how many people view some of the Houston players who took part in the scandal. When comparing the league's top-hitting duo, Kershaw took a shot at Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman, via The Athletic's Jayson Stark.

"I'm trying to think of teams that I pitched against," Kershaw said. "Like the best teams. I mean, leadoff-wise, [Jose] Altuve and [Alex] Bregman were good [in Houston]. But they cheated, so that's not really the same,"

While sending shots at Houston, Kershaw believes his team has the best slugging duo. I mean, it is hard to put anybody above what Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts have done this season.

"It's hard to find. And ours is probably the best [1-2 punch] right now for sure," said Kershaw.

Clayton Kershaw is in his 17th season in the big leagues. During that time, he has faced off against some of the best hitters the game has ever seen, like David Ortiz and Miguel Cabrera.

Despite facing some of the game's best, he still cannot get over just what Ohtani brings to the table offensively. From monster home runs to stealing bases with ease, there is seemingly nothing Ohtani cannot do.

"He scares pitchers out of the strike one like we saw tonight. Like they're literally scared to throw a strike" said Kershaw.

Kershaw has been studying Ohtani's at-bats and the opposing pitchers' unwillingness to give him anything near the zone. Especially when he has been on fire like he has in the postseason with runners on base.

This amazing season from Ohtani comes after being used only as the team's designated hitter this season. Just wait to see what he can do when he returns to the mound next season and joins a loaded starting rotation for the 2025 season.
