The Houston Astros had a disastrous start to the season and their struggle continues to persist. The franchise dropped yet another series against the Washington Nationals as their offense failed to score.
It's probably the worst time to be an Astros fan, especially when the team is at the bottom of the AL West with a miserable 7-16 record. The team holds one of the worst records in the majors, but they have enough time to set things right. However, Astors fans cannot help but lament their last defeat.
Fans took to X to express their frustration after a terrible start to the season. A few were also concerned about the management and wished for Dusty Baker to return to the team.
Here's a look at some of the reactions from Astros fans.
"Can we bring back Dusty," asked one fan on X.
"This team just doesn’t care anymore. They look so unmotivated in all aspects of the play. Absolutely heartbreaking to see the 2024 Astros with all this talent completely implode," another fan commented.
"So this is what it has come too, getting blanked by a team projected to win 67 games this season," wrote one disappointed fan.
Comments continued to pour in as fans remained unhappy with the management.
"Fire the entire coaching staff," one fan wrote.
"Y’all miss Dusty now?" another fan chimed in.
"The downfall is upon us," another fan wrote.
Astros' pitching continues to slump
It's not just offensive gameplay that has been the downfall of early-season struggles. The club has been struggling on the pitching end. While the offense had a no-show against the Nationals, the defense equally failed after surrendering six runs.
To make matters worse, the team has placed right-handed pitcher Christian Javier on the injured list. Javier was scheduled to start against the Nationals but was forced to stay out due to discomfort in his neck.
Josh Hader seems to be having an equally bad start this season while Framber Valdez hopes to return from the injured list. The team's bullpen seems to be in a fix with pitchers failing to save the offense. The good news is the return of veteran pitcher Justin Verlander.
