Justin Verlander's wife, Kate Upton, revealed interesting details regarding her daughter, marriage, being a baseball wife and her new fashion show. While talking about her daughter, Genevieve Upton Verlander, whom the couple welcomed on Nov. 7, 2018, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model touched on the topic of facing pressure after becoming a mother.
Upton mentioned about the pressure from peers and society when she was dating. Among a lot of questions, one that hurt her was facing the pressure to have more kids as a married woman.
"It starts when you’re dating. ‘When’s the ring coming? When are you guys getting engaged?’, " Upton said in an interview with PEOPLE. "And then you get engaged. ‘When’s the wedding? When’s the first child?' You’re like, Can I just be in the moment?’"
Kate Upton is a professional model, host, actor and entrepreneur. Apart from being a mother and wife, she has other commitments and responsibilities. Justin Verlander, meanwhile, is under contract with the Astros.
Kate Upton reveals that being with Justin Verlander comes with busy MLB schedule
Kate Upton knows what's like to be a baseball wife. The MLB has 162 games on schedule in a year, excluding the postseason. It's reasonable at times for baseball wives or partners to be overwhelmed with it, as they get to share a lot less time with their other halves.
Upton shared the same sentiment while speaking about on her relationship with the Houston Astros ace.
"Being a baseball wife is absolutely insane, like this schedule, is wild. It's so long. I didn't know," Upton said on Monday's episode of the Chicks in the Office podcast. "I accidentally fell in love. I had no idea that there were this many games."
She also joked about not getting consecutive offs, but she understands that it's her husband's profession, and, at the end of the day, she wants him to be happy.
"To watch someone you love out there and have no control, it was a totally new experience, and so it already started this nervous energy running through me like, 'Oh no,"' she said.
"You want them to do well and you want them to feel good. He's my husband. I want him to come home and be happy and not be disappointed in how he played or what happened."
Many baseball wives would share the same sentiment as Kate Upton. After all, 162 games is the biggest schedule across American Sports.
