MLB fans reacted to comments from New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone regarding an incident in Saturday's game with the Boston Red Sox. Before Sunday’s game, Red Sox manager Alex Cora addressed the situation involving pitcher Brayan Bello’s pitch that appeared to target Yankees captain Aaron Judge.

In the first inning of Saturday's 7-1 loss for the Yankees, Gerrit Cole hit Boston Red Sox’s Rafael Devers with a pitch. Later, in the sixth inning, Brayan Bello attempted to hit Aaron Judge with pitches outside the strike zone.

Cora admitted that Bello’s throw might have been intentional, potentially in response to the hit-by-pitch earlier in the game, saying (via NY Times):

“We had our chance. It didn’t happen and we have to move on.”

When asked about Cora’s remarks, Aaron Boone responded:

"That's not allowed. That's for somebody else to deal with. We're finished playing them for now. We're on to Seattle now.”

Several fans reacted to both managers' comments with some criticizing Alex Cora.

“Can’t believe I’m siding with The Yankees,” a fan said.
“Ugh this is such a stupid thing that Cora’s said,” another fan said.
“Cora talking a lotta shit about a team that just ended his season,” another fan wrote.

Red Sox fans also reacted with many discussing their team’s performance.

"This season has been over for the Sox since the all-star break," a comment reads.
“TBF our season’s been over for a long time,” another comment reads.
"Our pitchers forgetting how to pitch ended our season," someone wrote.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone shared his thoughts on Alex Cora’s intent

On Sunday, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone discussed what he believes to be Red Sox manager Alex Cora’s intent behind their recent drama.

“I think it’s a manager that’s using that moment to rally his troops a little bit as they’re fighting for their playoff lives,” Boone said (via NY Times). “They’re playing for a lot over there. And I think it’s an opportunity to kind of galvanize them a little bit. Probably a little gamesmanship to it. So that’s part of it.”

The New York Yankees (87-63), with a .580 winning percentage, are leading the AL East. Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox (75-75) are ranked third in the division with their postseason hopes almost over as they are 4.5 games behind the Minnesota Twins in the final AL Wildcard spot.
