Yankees fans fume as Bronx Bombers reportedly discuss Jazz Chisholm Jr. trade

The New York Yankees' World Series hopes are fast evaporating as the Bronx Bombers struggle to stitch together wins. While their inexplicable dip has fans concerned, the team's latest trade target has seemingly irked some of the Yankees faithful.

Senior MLB analyst Jon Heyman reported on Thursday that the Yankees have discussed a potential trade for Miami Marlins star Jazz Chisholm Jr. However, the Bronx Bombers are looking at the All-Star as a potential infield option to sort out their ongoing defensive frailties.

However, the report did not please many Yankees fans as some deemed the Marlins player an "overrated" choice because of his apparent lack of hitting ability:

"can't stay healthy & can't hit, sounds just like a Yankee," one fan said.
"Would be a horrible move. Hasn’t played infield since 2022 and is already a highly overrated player," another fan added.
"Why do we need another overrated player?" lashed out a fan.

Meanwhile, several fans have already given up on the season after the Yankees' disastrous run of series defeats over the last few weeks:

"Sure whatever, the despondence has already set in," wrote a dejected fan.
"Can he pitch, play first, second, third, shortstop, left field, center field, and right field? Hopefully he can do it all," argued another fan.
"Just call up some of our touted prospects instead of trying to shoehorn a light hitting, often injured guy, and play him out of position," one fan said.
"Until they get a new manager and front office, it doesn’t matter," another fan wrote.

According to Heyman, the Seattle Mariners could be another team monitoring Jazz Chisholm Jr., while the Yankees could consider Luis Rengifo, who is currently on the Los Angeles Angels' IL.

New York Yankees drought continues after another series loss against Rays

The Yankees fell to their 18th loss in the last 25 games on Thursday after a hard-fought contest against the Tampa Bay Rays in the series finale of their three-game series at Tropicana Field.

Manager Aaron Boone's team squandered opportunities with runners in scoring position as starter Nestor Cortes struggled from the mound in a 5-4 loss. The Yankees were pegged back in the first inning after Randy Arozarena's two-run homer. But the visitors found a way back after Austin Wells and Juan Soto's solo home runs.

However, Cortes surrendered five earned runs in his 10th start of the season as the Yankees failed to overcome the deficit despite rookie Ben Rice's RBI single in the ninth.
