The Minnesota Twins have been waiting for the return of All-Star Carlos Correa, who has been out of action since July 20. The superstar has been dealing with a painful bought plantar fasciitis in his right foot which has brought his bounce-back season to a screeching halt.
Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli provided some additional insight into Carlos Correa's injury. He said that his veteran shortstop continues to ramp up his running but remains without a timeline for his return to the lineup.
"He is ramping up his running right now. He is not sprinting yet," Baldelli said to the media during an interview on Wednesday. "When he is able to sprint and run the way he needs to, he's going to go on a rehab assignment and get some at-bats."

"He has not hit that point yet," Baldelli said. "He is not going to be going out to play until he can sprint."
Although the Twins manager emphasized that Carlos Correa needs to be able to sprint until he can head out on a rehab assignment, he did not provide much information about how close he is to reaching that point.
Carlos Correa's injury issues have been a concern in recent seasons
Although the Minnesota Twins superstar has been relatively healthy over the past few seasons, the veteran shortstop's ongoing foot problems have been concerning. In fact, Correa's various foot issues may have cost him one of the most lucrative contracts in the league.
During the 2022 offseason, Correa and the San Francisco Giants agreed to a mammoth 13-year, $350,000,000 contract. However, concerns regarding his ankle led the club to reconsider.
It was not just the Giants concerned about his foot health but also the New York Mets who offered a 12-year, $315,000,000 deal. After another physical exam raised red flags, Correa eventually returned to the Twins with a six-year, $200 million contract.

The All-Star shortstop has been able to play 135 or more games in the last three seasons, however, lingering foot issues have him on the sidleline for the Twins right now. Correa struggled with plantar fasciitis last season and is battling the same issue yet again but on the opposite foot. The Twins will likely exercise caution with their star as his health will be essential in any potential postseason run.
